I'm kind of partial to envelope filters. DOD makes a pretty decent one, although there are other manufacturers.

Z.Vex Probe pedals....Fuzz probe, Tremolo probe, Wah probe... beyond words!!!
Lovetone Meatball Envelope Filter......too expensive for most anybody tho.

i'm a wah, chorus, flange, reverb, od/dist, kind of guy. i would recomend going ahead and gettin "qulity" pedals instead of el cheapo's. i've never tried an envelope filter but with all the recomendations, that may be my next purchase.
