Hello, I have this configuration in my CORT GB34 bass.

The sound is amazing!!!

But i have one issue

When the blend pot is in the middle position the volume is very low.

When turn the pot to the neck or bridge the volume is ok.

I check a lot of times the wiring and it`s ok

Can you help me?

Thank you

Juan

(sorry my english is very poor)

Are you experiencing just a drop in volume or is there also a thinning of the overall tone?

Considering the differences between the two pickup designs, it is inevitable that, when the Balance control is set 50:50, one pickup will overpower the other to some extent.

Noise-cancellation between three coils is never total.

It is possible that there is an electrical phase relationship problem between the two pickups. I would be inclined to reverse the "hot" and ground conductors of the stock pickup rather than those of the SMB4A. This involves soldering work on the Balance pot. If the bare wire has been combined with one of the insulated conductors before soldering to ground, these will have to be separated.

EDIT - To be honest, if you are going to put in this much work, the smart choice would be to invest in an SD/Basslines STK-J2n. http://www.seymourduncan.com/products/bass-pickups/pickups-for-jaz/4string/stkj2_hot_for_j/
