Cort Guitars

Re: Cort Guitars

I've handed a couple Corts at the local shop. I think they're some nice work.

I'm not qualified to compare them with Ibanez or Schecter though.

Re: Cort Guitars

I own a Cort Impala, which is like a Strat.

I'd compare it more to a Squier Strat if anything, but I think it's better than a Squier. I haven't had the chance to try anything other than the one I have and a Cort LP copy. I'm interested in checking out what they offer now, but I don't think it's compared to Ibanez or Schecter. They are still good axes IMO, you just need to do some looking.

Btw, sorry for the poor picture quality. I just snapped this real quick. :)

No problem man. :)

The ones you're looking at look really nice. I like that they are coming with SD's and EMG's stock. Mine has Mighty Mite pups, with the exception of the bridge which is now a hotrails ;)

Re: Cort Guitars

the neil zaza one has a thumb adjustable truss rod.....that is what I call versatility haha

the very sad thing is...there isnt many guitar stores around here that carry cort electrics. they carry cort acoustics but not many electrics if any.

Re: Cort Guitars

Where are you? My favorite local store is an authorized dealer. I might be able to get one ordered for ya. Let me know.

Re: Cort Guitars

Just got back from the store. Picked up my Cheap Guitar off layaway (Silvertone Paul Stanley Signature Sovereign). I had a feeling you might be in Canada, and I have no idea about customs laws, shipping stuff to Canada, but if you're interested in an authorized dealer of Corts. Talk to Jason or Kelly.

I mentioned somebody was looking. Tell em Carl sent ya. Might, or not, save you a couple bucks. I was told that they'll strive to give competitive prices. They're just great guys.

Re: Cort Guitars

Every music store that carries MIK instruments probably has a whole wall full of Corts. They (and Samick) make nearly all the MIK guitars.

Am I the only one who noticed how much that Neil Zaza model looks like an Ibanez SZ520?

Re: Cort Guitars

There used to be a shop called All Strung Out in a neighbouring town called Paris (Paris ON), and they were about the size of a large closet, and had almost all Corts for their lectrics. All of them were Barricudas? I was told they also made most of the bodies for Ibanez as well as some for Squier and allegedly Fender MIM (though I've heard Mexican Fenders have MIA bodies and are assembled in Eseneda and the hardware and electronics come out of the Eseneda factory).

I tried a couple of the Cort Strat copies through a Kustom amp. Wasn't really drawn to them at all, but I had played worse guitars. You could find better guitars for your buck, like a Squier '51 or alder bodied Squiers.

As for the Cort guitars on that site, first time I had seen any of them.

Any MIK Ibanezes are probably their work entirely, not just the body. The MIM Fenders are definitely NOT MIA bodies assemebled in Mexico.

Not really surprised, like i said, just something I heard, never said i believed it!! Though my MIM Tele is second to none to any MIA Tele I've played. If only the neck wasn't so chunky, I'd play it more.

Re: Cort Guitars

Thanks man. I love those guys. I'll buy more guitars and gear most assuredly.

I love to sit and drink PBR and sip whiskey and laugh and laugh and laugh with these dudes on Friday evenings.

Re: Cort Guitars

Better than squiers, at least in feel. In regards to Ibby and Schetter... sorry, dunno. They have some cool ones, tried a few with some comfy sculpted heels and I think SD pups (too sleepy to be sure right now).

Re: Cort Guitars

Any Ibanez that has a serial number starting with "C" was built by Cort. The MIJ have the "F" for the Fujigen plant, and the MIK have a "C" for Cort. Indonesian built Ibanez are also built by Cort, but in (you guessed it) Indonesia.

Ibanez, Parkwood, Schecter, G&L Tribute series and Fender’s Squier line of guitars are all built by Cort.
