Country Compressor

Re: Country Compressor

mebbe all these amazing cats use boss pedals cos they spend more time practicing to sound good and less time researching the latest and greatest.
btw rodney...do you do online lessons? or should i just wait till your video is out?
Ahaha! True. Sometimes us 'forum' folks are hung up on the wrong details! Personally I have more time to forum chat this week due to a razor blade injured fretting finger. Online Lessons? Thanks for asking. Never considered it. Honestly I am still working out my approach. I have 3 DVDs shooting right now and I just found my teaching groove, language, rhythm, style etc. by the end of the first! I currently have 2 teachers myself. One of them has less 'ability' than me on the guitar but has helped me so much as a professional player. The other is a peer who has far more ability than me and is just fun to hang out with and listen to! Not the best teacher though. I hope to find that Robben Ford balance (hes a really great teacher and a really great player) Hit me up via PM and ill support anyway I can. Thanks!

I was able to find a Dyna Comp from a member of this forum. (Thanks Kac) I was wondering if anyone has experience with this mod. http://www.jhspedals.com/products/mod-shop/mxr-dyna-comp-dyna-ross/

Hey! Congrats on the pedal. Mods are really useful and the Dyna-Comp 'ross' mod has been around for years (anything 'Ross-ish). Here is an image of the Dyna-Ross mod I just made for you from Brian Wamplers book. Its a simple mod, but in all honesty $50 is well worth it to have someone else do it. I am an old-school DIY dude having built countless pedals and done literally over 1000 guitar or pedal-related mods in some form...ha. It can be alot of fun but there is no way around the 90 minute job unless your bench and tools are already setup. Plus if you have little experience, its takes a bit of trial and error to manage de-soldering and re-soldering in a small circuit board space. Try the pedal first, you may like it as is! Its always best to use our ears first!

Cheers and respect,

Re: Country Compressor

I'm not one for compressors normally and I've never used one in my live rig. However, after sitting with the Keeley for a while, I was extremely impressed with how well it worked for me. I'm not a country player at all but with the help of one of the guys from Keeley, I was able to make it work for me. Almost bought one on the spot.

Re: Country Compressor

The new Maleko Comp is a great Ross clone, and it's soooo tiny. It also doesn't add as much noise as other compressors, like the dyna comp. The CS3 sounds great, but the compression is way more noticeable and effect-like, if you will. The Ross, and it's many clones, are subtle.
