crazy wah problems

I've got the cheap Dunlop GCB 95 wah. When I hook it up, it emits a high pitched shriek, as if it's plugged in backwards, but it isn't... it emits this shriek even if the wah is turned off. It will still "wah", but there's always the shriek in the background.

Tried changing the battery. No help. Anyone know what the f*ck is going on

My Paul has an intermittent pickup problem... sometimes the neck pup goes out, and sometimes the grounds seem to spontaneously turn bad... it's been too intermittent for me to really be motivated about fixing it.

Might the wah "amplify" the buzzing created by this problem somehow?

thanks.

Re: crazy wah problems

double check the leads on your guitar and make sure everything is well soldered. Then take the wah back to the store....

heh, the wah only recently started acting up, and I bought it used a year ago.

I will check all those solders and cables... any other advice?

Re: crazy wah problems

I had the same problem with my Vox 847. I would plug it all in, then when i turned the wah on, and pushed it forward, it would just shriek with not guitar sound at all. it turns out, one of the soldering joints on one of the jacks wasn't done well, and that was all it took.
