Current Obsession

High Voltologist
You know being a guitar player is nuts....

Currently I am obsessing over double cut guitars and lower output humbuckers. Why? I dunno know it just happened?

Mostly driven by my Heritage H170 & a killer set of pickups my buddy wound for me - late 60's T-top spec

One day I'd like to be content but then again what fun would that be:scratchch

What's driving ya these days?

Re: Current Obsession

Telecasters always seem to be on my bench. That and old Marshalls...

I really should play more and collect/build less

If I had your skills I would play a whole lot less, you're killing it lately

Re: Current Obsession

I am currently obsessed with doing an Iommi Old Boy tribute build. If I find the right P90/Mini Hum SG husk it is game over.

Re: Current Obsession

Nothing specific - funds just won’t allow - but Reverend guitars always pique my interest because they’re such great value for a pro-level instrument. I have 2, and would have more if funds allowed. I don’t have a Bigsby equipped guitar, so that’s probably what I’d be looking at - actually, their Tricky Gomez model - because I’m not lookin, no, no way am I looking :)

Re: Current Obsession

I currently have several ideas to make a vintage looking guitar with modern playability. My best idea right now is a Korina Explorer with Dualitys, TBX, and series/parallel. I'm still deciding what neck profile and wood I want though. But it's getting there.

Re: Current Obsession

Fender Telecaster Hot Rod from 2007. The one with the Duncan mini-humbucker in the neck...

Re: Current Obsession

I’m really wanting to try my hand at my first guitar build.
An Ibanez or Charvel Super Strat type.

Re: Current Obsession

Over the last 5 years I've built over 60 pedals, 4 amps and 3 guitars.

I've been mellower lately on the build side of things but I hurt my knee really bad last week and, if I'm out of commission for the rest of the BBall season and ski season, I'll probably get another guitar going.

Purchase-Wise it's been a big year (2 amps, 1 guitar, 1 attenuator) so I'm really hoping the Mooer radar that's coming this week can be my last guitar-related purchase for a good while now...

Re: Current Obsession

Just obsessed with my strat and its tuning. I guess the nut needs some more graphite. Maybe it needs filing on the G and B slots. Might be time to swap the strings that came with it for Fender bullets.

Update: I restrung it with the Fender bullets. 9-42. Unless i'm psychotic, there was no 32 gauge string, just two 24's. I sat there comparing them for twenty minutes to no avail and then opened a pack of GHS. The difference between that 32 and these two strings was undeniable. So now my guitar has Fender bullets except for GHS on the A string. Right now i'm stretching the strings. This practice is new to me, the least technically inclined person ever. It actually works. I'm not used to stuff working. The strings get less out of tune by every round of stretching.

Re: Current Obsession

The only thing I’m really obsessing about is another bass, a Sandberg 48 in metallic red, hardcore aged. I’m only just getting into bass and already have more than I need so I may sell 1 or 2 and get the 48. Other than that, the only other guitars I keep wanting is an 80s Ibanez Artist AR300 or the semi acoustic version (model AM I think), a Yamaha SA2200 and a Les Paul Gold Top ‘57 RI.

Re: Current Obsession

Currently, Ive been looking at lower weight, fully hollow equivalents of the old Gibson Howard Roberts Fusion (Alex Lifeson used one). So I've been looking into Eastman, Heritage and possibly a Gibson ES-330.

I am obsessed with the thread I tried to start about a Tele build, and when it was time to press Post or whatever I got thew message that I wasn't logged in, and I don't have the time or energy to rewrite it all.

Well, the Montreal Premiere is still in that list. It has been awhile since I played with one. It isn't fully hollow, but it is close. And it is certainly light enough.
