I am planning on putting a jazz neck with the custom 5.
not only does my Custom have an ebony board and a maple cap, but it's a Norlin - meaning, maple neck too.
The Custom 5 is a cool sounding pickup until you try and play live with it and find out that it gets lost in a band mix almost every time.

You guys never had a problem...I never had good results getting it to cut...
Granted I didn't spend weeks and weeks messing with it...I was doign a lot of gigging at the time and something that didn't cut it live was pulled QUICKLY and replaced with something else!
The C5 just didn't have the midrange needed to really sound up front in a full band mix IMHO.

Would an SH-15 Alternative 8 be a better choice?
