Custom Custom & 59 for Music Man JPXI?

I've recently been considering on new pickups for my Music Man JP XI lately, and after buying an ESP Eclipse, I've found I love the '59 in the neck position. While I really love the JB, I was looking for something which would be very well suited to Instrumental music. I really want to write a solo album in the veins of Neil Zaza, Neal Schon, etc. Basically very expressive guitar playing. So dynamics and touch response is a must. But with enough power to handle those shred moment.

Any advice?

Cheers,

Mike

I think that combo would work nicely for what you are looking for. The CC has fatness on single note runs.

I love the CC in an EB/MM Silo Special.

Honestly, I'd leave the stock Crunch Lab and Liquifire in the guitar. They're perfectly matched to that guitar and there's no reason they can't pull off the qualities you want. I've owned the Crunch Lab and it's surprisingly touch-reactive and dynamic for being such a hot pickup. I really liked it.

Also, occasionally with Music Man guitars with body-mounted pickups you have to dremel down the tabs on Duncans to get them to fit. I don't know if that's the case with The JPs but I had to do that with an Axis I has.

If you haven't already - spend a good amount of time with the stock CL/LF pair before you write them off.
