custom custom´s great PAF sound.

ive bin listening over and over varios samples and for a big les paul midrangy sound i think ive hit the ball park....had to be the sh11 custom.
first i thought of the dimarzio air zone,but even neil zaza chose the custom custom over that one,and in his video in which he plays his signiture cort the sounds are unbelievably FAT.
ill put it on my cort mahogany prs type m700 guitar.
its really good feeling something great is gonna happen before you know it.
thanks to all in the forum for all the great help.
ill be putting a jazz in the neck.even considered the air norton before,but i just know the duncan will sound better for the clean and semi-overdriven tones.
if there is a better PAF fat and powerfull les paul like bridge pickup out there please let me know.
and yes,it is for really higain stuff. :32:

Well, in a LP a 59 will do it. So will a Seth or antiquity. Glad you like the tone of the CC but that isn't at all a PAF type of tone.

Yep...very true. 59, Seth or Antiquity are all closer to a vintage paf as is the Pearly Gates. The Custom Custom is alot stronger and at 14.4K overwound compared to vintage paf's which tend to be around 8.2K or so like the 59B. But as far as great tone goes, the Custom Custom is my favorite "hot" bridge humbucker. The 59B is my favorite for stock output.

Ditto what Lew and The Architect said. I love the CC, but if you want your Lester to sound like a Lester, there's not much better than the Pearly Gates in the bridge and the neck. :burnout:

challenged you all to confirm what i thought...pearly gates and others would be more lester sounding.
would the rio grande BBQ also be a good choice for a les paul PAF sound?even though its high out put..

CC-59 is a great set. One brighter would be a C-5/Jazz set. Depending on the tone of the guitar, I'd choose one of those 2. Also, Seth sets really have the tone.

when i get a les paul guitar sure will put a seth for the bridge and an antiquity for the neck.people here seem to like them the best.but i wonder if they have enough power to cut it for solos like a Gibson 57 classic + would.
at leat for the rythm part on the duncan samples the seths shine and are my favorites along with the JB and custom custom.

Dude - no need for the "trick" question. Just ask what you want to know:

1. What pup sounds the most like a classic Paul? Seth, 59, Pearly Gates (in order of least to most hot)

2. How does a Custom Custom sound in the bridge? Incredible; Hot pup, very crunchy, big mid boost, fat buttery highs.

You make the call based on what you want!

i've been thinkin that a Custom Custom will sound good in the bridge of my Warmoth....better than my Super Distortion anyway...and the more posts i see like this the more i want to run out and buy one.
