Custom Custom vs. Pearly Gates vs. Hades Gates

It's wall to wall carpet. I agree, there was a lot of reverb and delay; but that's how I roll. I said, in earlier posts that I was going to do these videos as if I were playing a gig.

After having the Hades Gates installed and playing it for several days now, I have a more comprehensive review. I like it. It's a great pickup. I don't love it. I am finding myself missing some of the thickness and output the Custom Custom provides.
The Hades Gates has a nice PAF vibe to it but feels like the heat has been turned up a notch past where the Pearly Gates is. It's got this cool "hollow" vibe to it that's very PAFish but has some nice mids as well. The guitar I put it in has a swamp ash body, maple neck and fretboard. It works and has a nice sparkle in the high end that sounds very nice. I imagine it would be a completely different animal in a mahogany body guitar like a Les Paul or similar. I am working on putting a video together like I did for the Custom Custom.

It is working for me. I just don't love it. I didn't love the CC either. I have two humbuckers that I actually did love; the Custom and DiMarzio Air Zone. I don't think the Custom would work in this guitar; which is why I chose the CC. The Air Zone? I don't know. I'm going to keep the HG in because it is growing on me.
It's one of those things where your sound is the sum of all its parts, right? I tweaked some amp settings, pedal settings, and am getting closer.

I guess it's just a little too thick for me. In my PRS, it sounds good but not as good as the HG. When I would EQ to make it work for me, the PG in the neck didn't sound good.
