Hey guys
Been on the gear-binge lately and part of it was getting some custom strings. I decided to go with DR Pure Blues after using Sadowsky Pure Nickel. I've been experimenting with different gauges for my electric guitars (non archtop/jazz box) and I fell in love with a combination set that I made up with strings I had. The bottom three were from a DR Pure Blues 11 gauge set for rock rhythm such, and the top three were from a Sadowsky Pure Nickel 13 gauge set for a jazzy-feeling lead that I could still bend. Using that as a starting point, I balanced the set more to get these gauges.
13, 17, 24(w), 30, 42, 52.
I went to Rock Island Sound - a local guitar shop, ordered the strings and they came in after a few days. Great service.

The strings had my name on the packs and everything! I really like the way they sound (put them on my 335). Chords and octaves sound a lot better than the Sadowskys, dirty tones sound a lot better. They feel great. Single notes clean sound a little more compressed or something though as if the tone was all the way up on the guitar. More crunchy sounding - I gotta get used to it. Still overall a big plus and at 6.50 a pack, it saved me money too!
