I built a Les Paul style kit from Precision Guitar Kits. I'm glad I opted to spend the couple of hundred extra bucks to get one of these kits right away, instead of one of the cheaper Ebay kits, like the ones we've all seen with all the parts included (as well as that super high quality patch cord). I was tempted to do a cheaper kit as 'practice' for a higher quality one, but honestly the money was better spent on the real deal, with some extra cash for chunks of maple and mahogany to practice finishing techniques. Their site is worth checking out to see the gallery of some of the other builds as well . . . it's a whole new level of GAS . . .
The set neck fit into the body so well it actually turned out to be the easiest part of the build gluing that sucker in there

Warmoth Neck/KNE Star body, finished by a guy north of Toronto in Charcoal Frost (or as close as he could get to it anyway)
Warmoth Body, MIM Strat neck, finished by me in attempted vintage white.
I spent some time this afternoon plotting and scheming and designing this beauty, which I will one day build. Sorta a riff on a PRS McCarty and a BC Rich Eagle at the same time. It's a slightly altered body shape of a BC Rich Eagle, to make it balance less like a strat and more like a PRS, also it's optimized for 22frets instead of the 24 that all Eagles come with. Also, H-S configuration. Because it makes me pants-happy (if you couldn't already tell from the above two guitars). I call it the Kestrel.
here are the specs I'm thinking:
Korina body and neck (set in)
Flame maple carved top, finished in a darkish honeyburst
Bubinga or Bloodwood fretboard
Ebony headstock overlay
Flame maple inlay of a Kestrel in flight
24.75" scale
I put a stop tailpiece there but I might go with a recessed TOM and string-through-body.
pickups: Maybe a Screamin Demon and a Cool Rails. orrrrrr perhaps a Perpetual Burn and a Hot stack. Haven't decided yet. Either way, the neck pickup is gonna be wood-mounted, no silly looking mounting rings for single coils.
Vol/Tone/3-way toggle
Graphtech TUSQ nut
22 frets
non locking everything, because F U, that's why.

Thanks! Got that pickguard lying around during building proccess and thought it would be a nice aesthetic addition. So just made simple cut, et voila!
