I placed the order for this back on 4/20 and it finally showed up today... My new Tele-Bro-90 8.06k tapped/17.11k full output, going into an Esquire conversion with the Eldred cocked wah wiring and a push/pull coil tap.

The label says Ceramic Al V, I'm not 100% sure of the inner workings of it. On the order form I put that I wanted an A5 Stra-Bro-90 for a telecaster and this is what MJ made for me, and since she's been doing this since before I was born I'll trust her judgment. Didn't get it finished tonight, hopefully tomorrow I'll have everything wired and report back on how it sounds

Re: Custom Pickup Finally Here (Tele-Bro-90)!!!

thats bad ass. the strabro90 has alnico V rods on the wound strings and screws and two small ceramic bars on the unwound strings. keeps the spank on the wound strings and fattens up the skinny ones. great pup for an esquire.

i have my esquire (with tapped pup) wired so its 1-low output w/ .01 tone cap (sorta cocked wah thing), 2-low output with tone control, 3-high output no tone. are you planning on having 1-cocked wah, 2-tone control, 3-no tone control then a p/p for output selection?

Wow! That's cool! What made you decide to choose that pickup?

Nice! I wasn't near as bold with my Custom Shop pickup. I bet that thing sings.

I was originally planning on using a Lil 59 that used to be in the guitar, but then I decided I wanted to keep it single coil and remembered someone suggesting a Tele-Bro-90 in the Forum Pickup poll last time we did one, so I decided to get one made.

Switching will be 1. Cocked wah, 2. Volume & Tone, 3. Volume only, p/p Volume pot for full/tapped output, and the control plate reversed from the neck side back will be Vol Tone Switch (which is how this guitar came from tje factory)

Tell us how you liked the tap? To be honest i did not like the half-coil-full-coil tapping on my SSL-6T too much. The full coil was a bit over the top, the half coil tap was a bit too thin'n'brite, if you know what i mean.

So...a p90 in a single coil sized pickup?
I WANT ONE!!!
I'm curious how noisy it is?

Re: Custom Pickup Finally Here (Tele-Bro-90)!!!

the strat version isnt any more noisy than a ssl1 for example. i have a trio of them in a strat and i dont find them noisy at all.

i tend to use the tapped output for cleaner things and the full output for dirty things but use both outputs for both clean and dirty sounds. depending on how your amp is set there may not be a huge volume difference. if you have a fair amount of dirt then youll notice more of a tonal shift than a volume boost

Re: Custom Pickup Finally Here (Tele-Bro-90)!!!

My Tele has the stock pups in it (MIM). TBH, I'm not even sure what model they stock them with. They sound good but I'm basically a rock/hard rock guy and they are noisy as hell.
I love the p90 snarl but worry about noise. I've been contemplating putting some noiseless in but have read mixed reviews about their tone vs. true single coil.
