"Custom strat neck" on craigslist

Does this "custom strat neck" look fishy to you guys? I think it looks kinda like the neck on the Epiphone strats they used to make, but without the weird lines. Either way, without some sort of brand or something, I just don't see him getting someone to pay $150 bucks for it. Of course, I'm no expert, so it may be a great custom made neck. If I is, I may buy it for one of my Squier projects.

I scoff in it's general direction. For $150 you could easily score a MIM Fender neck or even better, a Warmoth neck off ebay.

Seriously, what's with the comforter on that bed? Is it 1983? Just an observation.

OK, good. I'm not crazy. The first time I saw it, I just laughed, but it's been on craigslist for a month now. He was also selling a MIM tele neck for the same price, but I guess it already sold. Right now I'm wishing I had $550 bucks, because I would definitely score this: http://asheville.craigslist.org/msg/4866341395.html

$550 is a bit steep for a faded. A guy around here has been trying to unload one for $475 for several weeks now.

I'm a guy who loves the look of the faded series. I almost bought one myself a few years back until I played it. I have played a few fadeds but I really wanted a blue faded Les Paul. Sadly, all the local Guitar Centers in MN only had duds in stock. I was not impressed with them at all. If I ever found a good one, I'd buy it for sure. I have played a few decent red faded Les Pauls so I know they exist, I just never found a good blue one.

So, when it comes to fadeds you can score a really great deal on a used one for sure, but make sure you play it first.

Nothing fishy about it, its a strat style neck, with a custom/odd shape just as described.

If it was claiming to be a Fender then yes, you would say something was fishy.

That "inlay" looks like a "sticker."

Looks kinda "Behringer" to me.

The original brand identity markings were sufficiently embarrassing that someone saw fit to paint over them. Rarely a good sign.
