Re: D-TAR Sadducer

ive played other saddle type pups that sounded fine thru a board with no preamp, so id imagine the dtar would work fine as well.

Re: D-TAR Sadducer

You do realize that D-Tar is Seymour Duncan, (whom you know), and Rick Turner, of Renaissance Guitars, who hand makes the guitars for Lindsey Buckingham, (Fleetwood Mac).

I doubt that those two would produce a product thats "fishy".

I imagine its fairly thoroughly tested. ;)

Well 3 cent,

Looks like Artie put in his two cents, so with your cumlative 5 cents you aught to be able to buy an apology. :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2: Thanks Artie, I notice you are on the D-Tar forum as well. Artie gets around boyz, don't mess.

Peace,

Darrin

Re: D-TAR Sadducer

Hey Darrin; There sure doesn't seem to be much activity over there since they had the big forum-crash. I'm thinking it may pick up a bit once Mama Bear hits the streets.

btw - I don't think 3-cent meant anything by that. The Sadducer is an interesting product. I always wondered how one of those would work in an electric. Which would sorta mimick, (but better), the ACM version of my Genny. ;)

I know Artie! :laugh2: I was just handing out a little sh1t. No harm meant. I think I need to try one of these. I have an old (early 70's) Epiphone acoustic that just speaks to me, truly beautiful tone. I'd like to hear it amplified with its purity & this seems to be the most hands-off kinda repro going on. I hope someone chimes in that has tried one.

Peace,

Darrin

Heh - we should continue this conversation over at the D-Tar forum . . . breathe a little life into the place. ;)

Sounds good Artie!

I'll sign up. We should get some more folks over there to join us. C'mon peeps, who's in? I do believe Mr. Johnson played an acoustic.

Peace,

Darrin

Re: D-TAR Sadducer

The Sadducer uses piezo crystal elements which have far more output than piezo film pickups. That's why you don't need a preamp. You can still use a preamp and you'll be able to add EQ and other enhancements, but the pickup by itself has enough gain.

The D-TAR Timber-Line, on the other hand, is a film pickup and requires a built-in 18 volt preamp.

And I would welcome anyone and everyone to check out the D-TAR forum. Rick Turner is a regular contributor and moderator. It's a real treat to be able to interact with such a legend.

For those of you who don't know, Rick's resume includes:

Guitarist with the '60 folk duo, "Ian & Sylvia"
Soundman for the Grateful Dead and inventor for the "wall of sound" live system
Co-founder of Alembic
President of Gibson's West Coast R&D Labs
Inventor of the Highlander pickup
Designer of the "Lindsey Buckingham" Turner Model One
Designer of the Renaissance Guitar line
Co-founder of D-TAR

And he's a nice guy to boot.
