Absolutely agree with you here. Ive never once broken a string with a d'Addario, and they seem to hold their composure and last longer than the rest too so its a win either way.I really like the NYXL's these days for good (not amazing tone) and really good longevity.

and wich ones give the amazing tone?
10 XL
13.5 XL
17 XL
28 NYXL
38 NYXL
52 XL
I use the standard D'Addario XL 10-59 on my Jackson 7-string. Works very well :cool2:
but what's the point of mixing XL's and NYXL's? i better get the whole pack of NYXL then
For epic tone. The xls are crisp and the nyxls are juicy. You can also optimize your gauges instead of using the retarded ones that come in a pack.
B tuning?
Go heavier gauge. At least 11s.
Have a look at the dunlop heavy cores too if you are wondering about brands.
Start with the regular 10-59 set. On one hand, I agree with Clint’s assessment of stock string gauges being off, but on the other, it sure is convenient to use strings available everywhere.
What king of amp do you use?
sound better than the stock strings?
amp sims, i'm not a millionaire
Since you're not a millionaire, you probably shouldn't be buying $12 strings. If I weren't an amp owning millionaire, I probably wouldn't bother with them.
However, I did put a set of NYXL 10-46 on a guitar quite awhile ago (maybe last year sometime?) and they're still good. I'm going to try a set on my Strat soon. It stays in tune really well with XL strings, so I'm curious to see how the NYXLs do.
