You'd have a hard time telling in person too.

It's been many years since I've played Elixirs, and most of my experiences came with the first generation, so they've probably improved a lot since then, but the XTs impress the hell out of me on both my acoustic and the bass I use for brighter, more aggressive stuff.

I see the XT series is the same price. Didn't know they were coated, though.

I agree with this. However they do the coating is a lot better than any Elixers I've tried.
