Jomo's Nimions
I've used D'Addario strings for a long time, but tried the NYXLs for the first time today.
After years and years of putting together different string sets to get the perfect tension, I said to hell with it and went 10s on Fenders and 11s on Gibsons. I've since decided that was too complicated and now everything gets 10-46.
The NYXLs went on the '62 Les Paul (after an overdue board oil and fret polish). Acoustically they don't sound that different, but plugged in, it sounds a bit bigger, like there's more signal hitting the amp. They also got in tune more quickly and seem to be holding pretty well, with no stretching. I'm not thrilled with the price difference, but my time is split between a mandolin, banjo, acoustic guitar, and a couple other electrics, so strings don't need changed as often as in the past.
Anybody else have an opinion?
