Damn I like the 59nA4

Re: Damn I like the 59nA4

Yep you're new to the game as I remember these guys way before you joined. All the mag swaps and even the Hybrids were before your time. You've been here a while now, but comparatively, you're still a newbie to the ones that have been here years before. Haha. Thanks for playing.

Yep.....Lol....Who was this directed towards?

Re: Damn I like the 59nA4

These so called newbie magnet guys are the second generation of it....Second shift.. ;o).I don't do much magnet swapping these days and prefer to play and get better.Plus new band, new tunes!

Re: Damn I like the 59nA4

John, that above comment in post #40 was to the second stringer; the Faux Tele Savalas.

Lol......Oh ok.....

Not bragging, but there are "alot" of us that have been swapping magnets and posting our findings way back to at least 03....Some of the 06 and more recent guys have taken it further with the other magnets like the RCUOA5,UOA5,and the A8....Blueman335 turned me onto the UOA5 and I like it...If there's any patting on the back going on,a bunch of us deserve credit for it...Thats all...No big deal otherwise with it and glad to continue the learning process with all of this stuff.. ;o)

Re: Damn I like the 59nA4

Who has his 'coil swap mod' diagram, so it can be posted again? That's something that newbies should see. An alternative to coil cut and parallel, but not as bright, thin, or weak, and is hum-cancelling. Great idea.

Re: Damn I like the 59nA4

Are you talking about his spin a split mod? Pretty sure that's still on the forum.

PM Artie....I have his cell number also if needed...No luck on a forum search?

Re: Damn I like the 59nA4

Wait till you try an A4 59/Jazz Neck Hybrid... the BOMB!

Which bobbin is the '59 and which the Jazz?

I was thinking 'bout doing an hybrid to go in a 24-fretter, just to see if it somehow paliates a little bit the "neck p'up displacement syndrom".

My idea is to put the stronger bobbin as the screw bobbin, just for kicks, but I'd like to hear your opinion.

For a 22- or 20 fretter, I'd do the opposite, but it's not something I've tried, so I'm glad you've popped out, so I can ask you directly, as I don't think there is somebody with more experience than you in "all things hybrid". ;)

I'm all ears!

Yours very truly,

Spin-a-split is different, which is dialing the amount of reduction you want in a coil, from unbalanced to full coil cut. Coil swap mod is using a push-pull to pair up the bridge slug and neck screw coils, which makes a 'virtual' HB with separated coils.

Yeah, John was my first major supplier of mags. We certainly missed his store when he retired. Great guy, great service, brother forumite. Haven't heard much from him since he retired, but he has posted a couple times recently (the past 3-6 months).

I'm going out of town on business this week, so I've haven't been able to spend much time online. Not everyone is retired and can spend their day around the house in pajamas like Hugh Heffner. :14:

I did a search for coil swap mod, but haven't found a thread with the actual diagram yet.
