Re: Dang I just bought a 24.75 scale Start neck by mistake..
I used to have a 24.75" scale strat conversion neck. I had it since the early 90s, way before warmoth started doing it.
Despite the 'common wisdom' you see posted around the web from people who have never actually owned or used one, it was not any less bright or twangy. Easier bends? Yeah, a touch easier.
I changed it out a couple years ago but only because I wanted to go from maple to mahogany, scale had nothing to do with it. As a side note, an all honduras mahogany strat STILL SOUNDS LIKE A STRAT! It does not sound "like a cross between a Gibson and a Fender" in any way, shape or form. Does it sound exactly like an ash/maple strat? No, but in the way that SSL flats don't sound exactly like Suhr singles. You'd never mistake either for a PAF.
If it was truly a conversion neck and not designed for a non-standard body, you might have found it interesting.
The only real difference I ever noticed between that guitar and my other strats was, if I got used to one or the other, the space between the upper frets was noticeably different.
