dave murray strat

Re: dave murray strat

pickup rings on a pickguard somewhat look unpleasant for me. but still, it's nice, but not for that price.

Re: dave murray strat

I used a MIM Strat and built my own two years ago. At less than a quarter of the price!

Re: dave murray strat

Both guitars look good. Never seen that Jackson, it's the first Jackson guitar I like. But I would like them much more if they had large headstocks. Just a whim.

Re: dave murray strat

I guess you could always go with Adrian Smith's:

They got a Floyd (and a Jackson logo on their headstock which is strange since they seem to be more like Charvels... :dunno:)

eh, i like the HSH look better. if i were to have a dave murray strat, i'd probably just want to go custom and do it out of warmoth parts or something with a floyded body. i mostly like the aesthetic of his strat though, it all looks so mismatched-it's great!

Re: dave murray strat

No Floyd? What's that all about?

Probably going for the more quasi-Number of the Beast-era set up...with the exception of the neck pickup.

Always liked that guitar, but the Adrian Smith sigs are waaay cool. I'd have to swap out the pickups, though...;)

Re: dave murray strat

Dave's original Black strat was a very cool guitar in the mid 80's... Maiden fans hold that guitar as being really special...

Re: dave murray strat

I've always been led to believe that the guitar in question was previously Paul Kossoff's Strat (it was white then and original) as seen on the cover of his 'Back Street Crawler' album. What has happened to it is a travesty, the world is full of Strats to ruin, why oh why ruin PK's ? Would D Murray have done the same to a Strat that had belonged to Hendrix ?? Every time i see or hear about 'the dave murray strat', i wince. PK himself said it didn't intonate well, but it is inextricably linked to him and should never have been defiled in such a way. I also heard that D Murray was thrilled to get to own PK's Strat, so what in the hell was he thinking?? Thank heavens he never got his hands on any of Koss' Les Pauls.....

From what I've read, the Kossoff Strat was already painted black by the time Murray got it.
