Dave Mustaine dropped the ESP endorsement!

Re: Dave Mustaine dropped the ESP endorsement!

I wouldn't be at all surprised if it were Dean. They're huge with the Dime model right now, but seriously, how much further can you ride that wave? Mustaine on Dean would be a really cool endorsement, and might pick up the slack once the popularity of the Dime models start to wane.

Although, doesn't he (or at least someone of Megadeth past) have history with BC Rich? USA Riches are awesome guitars as well.

I wonder how good the quality is on USA Dean's because theyre sponsering tons of metal guitarists. This winter NAMM theyre supposed to be releasing a Rusty Cooley and Michael Angelo Batio signature model.

Re: Dave Mustaine dropped the ESP endorsement!

I can't find the video on youtube. I can't even remember what the title of the song was from the video I saw. But, I am absolutely certain that the guitar didn't say ESP on the headstock. If it was an ESP, the name on the headstock certainly wasn't an indication that it was.

Apparently it has nothing to envy from the USA Jacksons. I've read they're absolutely top notch.

Re: Dave Mustaine dropped the ESP endorsement!

I predict BC Rich or Bernie Rico JR.?

Didn't he use that 10 string (only strung for 6 strings) BC Rich Bich way back in Metallica and the beginnings of Megadeth? I predict he will bring his V back to them.

Re: Dave Mustaine dropped the ESP endorsement!

I don't think he'd ever go to BC Rich, Kerry King is endorsed by them.

Re: Dave Mustaine dropped the ESP endorsement!

Kerry King was his buddy back in the day and helped him get started with Megadeth. That would be very cool if he went to BC Rich.

Re: Dave Mustaine dropped the ESP endorsement!

Be Funny if it turned out his new endorsment was with PEAVEY haha. They use a really small Script (cursive) sort of logo on alot of they're guitars now, and its hard to tell what it is from more than a few feet away.

Hopefully he'll just go back to Jackson. Cause ya know the quality would be top notch. And I dunno if its just me, But Ever since I first heard of megadeth, and knew who dave was, In my mind I've always associated him with Jackson. So really thats where he should be.

Yeah, that's why KK repeatedly called Dave a 'c@cksucker' - no they haven't been friends for quite some time XD

That would be kinda funny if he did go to Peavey, because Dave Ellefson works for Peavey know in artist relations XD

Re: Dave Mustaine dropped the ESP endorsement!

Well, one of Dave´s main considerations when looking for an endorsement seems also to be the sheer volume.

This is , according to him, one of the reasons he did not go to Hamer or Washburn when he switched to ESP.

There are AFAIK only 4 manufacturers that can provide him with the Quality and volume that he desires. These are:

Jackson: As we know he used to endorse them, and there is much speculation and unconfirmed rumors as to whether they "patched it up" or not.
ESP: Well, he just left them, so that´s not too likely.
Ibanez: possible, but I don´t think it´s likely from my impressions of Dave.
BC Rich: Possible considering he used to play them himself before he switched to Jackson.

Of course he could also be going with Abstract or another "Ed Roman Brand", but I see Dave as somebody who only "plays with the big boys", if you know what I mean....

We´ll see @NAMM, but IMO he should go back to Jackson where he belongs, even his ESPs were ripoffs of his Jacksons ;)

Ironically, if he IS returning to Jackson, I could well imagine him being a bit ticked at himself for selling all his old ones ;)

Ibanez doesn't build guitars with ebony fretboards, at least production ones, not sure about for artists, so Dave won't go with them.

Re: Dave Mustaine dropped the ESP endorsement!

FMIC is working pretty hard at gathering some good endorsements lately, so my money's on Jackson.

The only hang up I can see with this is the roundhorn stuff - he wants to bring back the Y2KV and some more "classic" v shapes, and I doubt FMIC would even think about touching that, no?

My guess would be Washburn, but Dean could also do it.

Re: Dave Mustaine dropped the ESP endorsement!

Dean already does roundhorn Vs... Just the headstock is different. So I'd say Dean.

Up until a few years ago the Ibanez Jems had ebony boards on them.

I predict he'll go back to Jackson. Dave's notorious for money moves and aside from Gibson there's only one other company that has that sort of cake.

I still have very little respect for him for these moves.

Re: Dave Mustaine dropped the ESP endorsement!

He's dropped ESP, Andy Sneap has tracked and is mixing the new album, and rumour has it that Dave's back on the crack pipe.

I have HIGH hopes for the new album.

Re: Dave Mustaine dropped the ESP endorsement!

Maybe ESP didn't give Seymour Duncan a good deal or something?
Nope. It had nothing to do with that. We have a very close business relationship with ESP and, in fact, it's because of Jose Ferro, VP of ESP, introducing me to Dave at a NAMM show a few years ago, that we have the Mustaine LiveWires.

ESP is also our distributor in Japan -- our biggest international market. ESP's subsidieary, Schecter Japan, distributes, D-TAR, our sister company. ESP makes the "Seymour Duncan" brand guitars in Japan. And ESP buys a lot of pickups from us for brands like Edwards and Navigator, that you don't really see in the USA. All is good between Seymour Duncan and ESP.

Like Dave said, it was just a business decision.

Well Dave is a **********. Dave's ego is outrageous. I see no reason for him to no go with an endorsement deal with BC Rich because KK plays them. Whether they're friends or not who cares... but Dave is kinda nutty so it could be a completely valid reason for him not to go to BC Rich. He's kooky.
