Dave Mustaine dropped the ESP endorsement!

Re: Dave Mustaine dropped the ESP endorsement!

Deans are too expensive?

The MIA ESP Dave Mustaine model guitars both retail for $3,999 and up. $3,999 for the DV8, and $4,499 for the Axxion.

MIA Deans would retail for similar prices. I don't see how a signature Dave Mustaine Dean guitar would be "too expensive."

Agreed. List price on most USA Deans is not any more than Gibson, higher end Fender

When I first started looking into purchasing the Dean Hardtail, I looked at dozens of them. I was absolutely blown away by the consistent quality and attention to detail. I also looked at a lot of other Deans, and felt the same way.

I've now had my Hardtail for over 4 years, and am still amazed at the quality. No detail was overlooked and it's a fantastic instrument.

Mustaine...****.

anyway

as for the deal, i dont think its gibson.

i cant see dave swinging around an ibanez.

MAYBE washburn,

jackson seems likely...as well as dean.

i think he should jump ship and play banjo.

Re: Dave Mustaine dropped the ESP endorsement!

Let me re-evaluate his ego.

I mean...the situation. lol.

given all the "RE"s in his statement, ill say jackson.

Re: Dave Mustaine dropped the ESP endorsement!

I say Jackson or (most likely)Dean. I dont know. On a side note, I hope the new album is going to be good.

Re: Dave Mustaine dropped the ESP endorsement!

Hmm. Was just flipping through some stuff on the Dean forums and some guys say that the 'big' announcement is a Micheal Angelo Batio(yuck) signature.

Re: Dave Mustaine dropped the ESP endorsement!

ESP is a Japanese company just like Ibanez. I thought all the high end ones were made in Japan with the cheaper ones being made in Korea and whatnot.

Taken from the FAQ on the ESP site:

"ESP guitars are built in our main factory and custom-shop located in Japan. These are completely built and assembled by highly skilled craftsmen using the best parts & wood selection. LTD guitars are produced in our factories outside of Japan (currently Korea or Indonesia), and are manufactured in larger quantities using an assembly-line production method.

ESP has 3 factories, including the Custom Shop. These factories manufacture ESP instruments exclusively, and do not build for any other manufacturer. All 3 are owned and operated by ESP.

Only custom ordered guitars are made at the Custom Shop. ESP Custom Series, ESP Signature Series and ESP Standards are made at the second and third factories.

The relatively small ESP Custom Shop does not have the capacity to meet the increased demand for 2006 Signature Series instruments, while still being capable of delivering the custom ordered guitars within an acceptable timeframe. Although Signature Series and Custom Series instruments are made outside the Custom Shop at another ESP facility, they remain the premier product lines sold by ESP and their quality remains unchanged."

Re: Dave Mustaine dropped the ESP endorsement!

Wow. $4,500 retail for a guitar that isn't even made in the US? If people are willing to pay those kinds of prices for those guitars, then Dean guitars are definately NOT too expensive.

Being made in the U.S isnt everything. The MIJ ESP's extremely well made. And I'm not the big of a fan of ESP

I didn't say they were bad. Even still, That's a huge retail price for guitars that aren't even US made. And then to say Dean guitars are too expensive considering the cost of those... that's just stupid, IMO.

You're making the same mistake dude. USA isn't all there is man. Who's telling you that those Japanese guitars aren't amazing? I know they sure are just as good as anything US made.

Dude, I never said they weren't good guitars. Maybe you should put on your glasses and actually READ what I said. Not once did I say that ESPs Japanese guitars were bad. I was simply addressing what someone else said about Dean guitars costing too much. Geez.

Your still saying that they're inferior. Whether you mean to or not. Saying that an MIA Dean is expensive is right. The cost is justified, same as a MIJ ESP. But their both still quite expensive.

But I know what your trying to say, no harm meant, no harm done.

You clearly said they were not as good as Americans, or of lesser value. What I was saying was they're not. It's not all about USA made guitars dude. Them being more or less expensive than USA made guitars doesn't make either brands too, or not enough, expensive.

To me, made in USA is not an added value. If the guitar is good, it can be made in Tumbuctu and it's still a good guitar. After that, a guitar is only worth what YOU're willing to pay for it.

I never clearly said anything of the sort. What I was saying is that it is foolish to say that Dean guitars are "too expensive" when those guitars are similarly priced.

Now knowing that the guitar is MIJ and not MIA is what shocked me. I've never seen Japanese guitars that cost that nearly much. I never said or meant to imply inferiority. Japanese guitars are great, and every bit as good as American made guitars.

Maybe you didn't mean it as so, but this is clearly saying that non US made guitars should be cheaper than US made guitars. It's easy from there to see that you meant inferior. You also said:

The even there kinda gave it away that it's too expensive for what you think it is.

Re: Dave Mustaine dropped the ESP endorsement!

Eh, whatever. If it's made well and plays great, that's wonderful. I'm sure someone out there is happy with their $4,500 MIJ Dave Mustaine signature Axxion.

If they're good, they're good, if they're not, they're not. The price doesn't matter. Although, I'm pretty sure they cost that much because Dave Mustaine's name is on it, and not because of how well they're made.

Think what you will. I'm done arguing about it.

Re: Dave Mustaine dropped the ESP endorsement!

That's right. Signature models come attached with a premium for the artists.

Re: Dave Mustaine dropped the ESP endorsement!

I know. That's why EVH left Music Man and endorsed Peavey. Because of volume of sales. Music Man is a small company and can't pump out the amount of guitars that Peavey or whoever else can. ESP is a very very large company from what I understand.
