Yeah. They're huge. They put a lot into marketing. Basically ESP advertises the players more than the guitars. Brands like Ibanez do that a lot, and Schecter now with the Good Charlotte alike Avenged Sevenfold. I don't really get how it works but they show it works I guess. I personally would never chose a guitar based on what someone else plays.
ESP have a huge distribution network because the demand is there basically.
Now that Dean is growing because of the whole Dime exploitation, maybe they'll get there too, but they aren't nearly as big yet.

EVH said that he left Musicman because he felt his guitars lacked quality...

The website just hasn't been updated yet. Furthermore if it's a 2006 model I doubt they'd just change the site before NAMM. They'll probably anounce all that is new at once and then change it.

By the way, I'm sorry for arguing with you guys. I didn't really mean to imply that their guitars are inferior. Maybe I should've worded my post differently. My girlfriend has been in the hospital for a month and a half, and I've just got other crap on my mind at this particular moment. Forgive me, eh?

I have HIGH hopes for the new album.

I didn't say they were bad. Even still, That's a huge retail price for guitars that aren't even US made. And then to say Dean guitars are too expensive considering the cost of those... that's just stupid, IMO.

It's not cheaper to build guitars in Japan.

The Y2KV was more of a Gibson knockoff than a King V. It had the Gibson headstock.

I'm sure someone out there is happy with their $4,500 MIJ Dave Mustaine signature Axxion.

man.. if there is someone with the axxxxxxxxxion, the price isnt what it's laughed about... it's that some idiot BOUGHT the axxion. one of the ugluest guitars on the face of the earth.

and retail it might be 4.5k, but i dont know when people will start to understand that is not the street price. if you pay that kind of money, you deserve to be ripped off.

They stole the Dean ML design. It was the exact same guitar, only it said "Washburn" instead of "Dean." I wouldn't be surprised if they directly ripped off ESP's design AND headstock. :laugh2:

I haven't read the last 3 pages of this thread I just wanted to offer some insight on this comment...

I was my understanding that the ML shape was used with permission and a royalty paid to Dean Z himself...

I could be wrong, but I don't think it was "stolen".
