Dave Mustaine dropped the ESP endorsement!

Re: Dave Mustaine dropped the ESP endorsement!

Maybe Dave is going to Carvin... That would be a suprise. Plus they make a good product. Plus, they have not had any pointies in their lineup in a few years..

This is possible since he lives near the plant in San Diego

Re: Dave Mustaine dropped the ESP endorsement!

Not a fan myself really..I like the first couple Deth albums...Poland era I guess...peace sells...and the one after that (that has into the lungs of hell and anarchy in the UK), and thats about it.

But Dave def is a "big" endorsee to have and remains relevant in the genre.

You like all those and don't like Rust in Peace? :eek13:

Re: Dave Mustaine dropped the ESP endorsement!

Rust in Peace was amazing. I didn't really get into anything after that one though...

It was decent...but I prefer the first two (especially the second album). I hated the "glossy/big" production of RIP...if its the album I'm thinking of anyway. I cannot even remember the name of my fave Deth album :laugh2: I wore that cassette out and never did buy it when I got a CD player.

Re: Dave Mustaine dropped the ESP endorsement!

I remember when he switch to ESP he was thinking Gibson, but they would not make a 24 fret model for him and he wanted 24 frets. I also recall he was unhappy when Jackson went up for sale he was going to buy the company and when they would not sell to him he decised to change his endorsements.

My thoughts would either be back to Jackson for he made up with them or Dean

On the ESP V, ESP had an V they used to sell, that had 24 frets. all he did was put his Seymour Duncans he liked in then and change where the control knobs were.

maybe he's gonna try to buy over Jackson again!
and make his own line up of guitars!

possible??
..that'd be great too..

Re: Dave Mustaine dropped the ESP endorsement!

who would that be? Vince Sansevere? :laugh2:

Flashback!!! SpeedMetal2000/KingVee!! Is that guy still floating around, still trying to scam free endorsement gear out of manufacturers? LOL

He's dropped ESP, Andy Sneap has tracked and is mixing the new album, and rumour has it that Dave's back on the crack pipe.

I have HIGH hopes for the new album.

Best news I've heard in a long time concerning Megadeth. Andy Sneap is a genius. And as much as I hate to say it, Dave on drugs is good for metal.

not as great as when Dave's on drugs and marty's on lead guitars! :smokin:

anyway i heard the new Megadeth Gears of War song. sounded ok...nothing special. I guess his previous nerve problem in the left hand's the cause of losing all those amazing technical rifffs.

Re: Dave Mustaine dropped the ESP endorsement!

Maybe I'm mistaken, but I thought he played Gibson Vs when he first started with Metallica? I want to say I've seen footage of that, but I could be dilusional. I haven't had a day off in two weeks... I'm getting kinda tired.

If I remember correctly, James played the Gibson V copies, Mustaine was playing BC Rich. The Kill 'Em All video was one of the first times I had ever seen a Bich (and subsequently set my pants on fire to get one). Even back in the Peace Sells days he was playing Biches and Mockingbirds. It would so rock if he went back to BC Rich. He and Jackson are a good match too though. Carvin wouldn't be a bad move. I've never played one but know people who have and they love them. I was always intrigued by them when I was younger.

Glossy/big? I think you're talking about Countdown to Extinction, which is prasied by many Deth fans but I hate.

Rust in Peace sounds very dry, the drums sound a bit muffled and very very punchy. Certainly not glossy at all!

If you're gonna buy it/download it/give it a listen, please get the original version. The remastered Rust in Peace is awful.

It's a general consensus among Megadeth fans that Rust in Peace it's their best album by a mile. :D

Rust in Peace (the original) is one of the top Metal records ever ,and the best thing what Dave Mustaine nad Friedman did!Nothing compares to that album ,and i am a great fan of Friedmans tone and drum sound.Even BAss is huge and great. Not compressed like the CTE.Not Glossy at all!

Re: Dave Mustaine dropped the ESP endorsement!

I really wish I had some shred of appreciation for this hard-edged story.

Re: Dave Mustaine dropped the ESP endorsement!

well..a couple of things came to mind...

I cannot see Dave moving on without the Mustaine Live wires going in whatever guitar he ends up with....

so...that may rule out Gibbo and Carvin...since they do their own pups. I suspect the Duncan folks already know.

Secondly...if for some reason whomever he went with WAS/WOULD NOT putting the Mustaine Livewires in...how is this going to affect sales of those? I would imagine Duncan was selling a pile more as OEM in the ESP sig models than they are selling as aftermarket replacements. Tho Thats just my guess.

Re: Dave Mustaine dropped the ESP endorsement!

I wouldn't completely rule out Gibson... even though they do wind their own pickups there are models available with EMGs, the Zakk Wylde signature being the first to come to mind. That may be entirely because Gibson doesn't off an active line up pickups, though.

Eesh... we can speculate all day long. I just want to know, dammit.

What about the Slash signature model with the Alnico 2 Pros, eh?

Re: Dave Mustaine dropped the ESP endorsement!

I didn't think of that one, but yeah, there's another one.

Unless, of course, Gibson has fooled everyone by putting A2 mags in a 490/498 set. :D
