DD vs Custom

What are the basic sound differences between the DD and the Custom? And what types of metal are they both suited for?

Re: DD vs Custom

Custom = Beefed up PAF.

DD = Venom-spewing PAF with a cocaine addiction.

The Custom will be less aggressive, have less highs, and more lows. It will also get a better clean tone.

See, I find the Distortion to have more lows. Could be the guitars I'm using it in though (alder, maple neck thru with poplar, and mahogany vs. basswood for the Custom).

No need to worry about clean. Which does thrash better?

Both of them, depends on the amps you're using, guitar type, pedals... :)
Alot of other pups can "do trash" very well.

I have both and of the two the DD is more aggressive and firey.
the custom is real good too but it needs a bit more output to keep up with the frie breathing DD.
the custom seems to have more low end and a more paf type tonein my rig and the DD has more crunch and thunk and is way more metal sounding(think dime,zakk,slayer,older metallica stuff)
I want to still try a custom with the larger ceramic magnet in it from the DD but for now i love my modded DD(hex poles on the stud coil side) too much to worry about it :burnout:
