For eyelet type terminal connectors I just blow on the eyelet when the solder is liquid. Pot pot chassis I leave the old solder in place and work with/around it. Heating up a pot chassis to remove excess solder can damage a pot.

A wooden toothpick will work also for cleaning the solder lug out, just don't use the toothpick to pick your teeth afterward ... :laugh2: A better choice would be a small old crappy drill bit that will fit thru the solder lug. As far as the other, yeah like Robert said, just work around it, other than that heat it up fast and use a solder sucker and be careful. Easier to work around it there.
thanks for the replies...
i tried toothpick...it didnt worked so well..
i got solder over all the tonepot... so i decided to use some of the old solder...

That's odd ...It worked fine for me ... I was referring to opening the *hole* back up in the soldering lug on the pots ... I wasn't referring to trying to use it as a solder wick .... shoulda made that a bit clearer.
