So I was gonna' trade a wah pedal for an EQ, and I went out to this pawn shop where I remembered seeing the Morley wah. Turns out, it was a Morley Dual Bass Wah? At any rate, I'm walking out of the pawnshop, and I see a halfstack facing the corner in the car audio section. I turned it around, and it's a 5150! I couldn't believe it, I'd been looking for one for months! The price tag on it was $399 for the head and matching cab, with original footswitch! I remembered what Gearjoneser said about not getting excited, and it took every ounce of self control to not look like I wanted it. So I asked the guy about it, and he said it'd been there for a week. I asked if I could play it, and he gave me the okay, so I rolled it over to the guitar section, and let it warm up. While it was warming up, I tried to act uninterested in it. Walked over to the amps, and looked to see what they had, like Gearjoneser said, look like you've got options. I went back, and played it for 20 minutes, it worked perfectly! I brought the guy over, pointed out a couple tears in the tolex on the cab, showed him that the volume knob on the lead channel was a little scratchy, and asked him what the best he could do was. He said $350. I told him "Man, you and I both know that this beat up old Peavey won't have any resale value with all those nicks and dings, how about $320?" And he said sure! So I got a 5150 halfstack for $320 plus tax. Deal of the year?
The cool part is, my birthday's in a week, and I called the girlfriend to get the okay, and she goes "I know you've dreamed about owning a 5150, so instead of me getting you a present, why don't I just put $100 towards your 5150?" She's a keeper!
