This is quite a thread necro, but judging from the astonishing number of thread views, I'm guessing that info is skimpy out there on Dean DMT pickups, so a lot of folks are coming to this thread trying to find info. I certainly have been one of them.
My experiences with DMT pickups has been very positive, all from stock pickups in Dean guitars.
I'm tremendously impressed with the Nostalgia set. As others have observed, this is basically the Duncan 59 set, just less scooped. The Duncan WLH set also answers to that description, and, to me, the Nostalgia bridge is indeed a lot like the WLH bridge - just a good, solid A5 PAF that doesn't get brittle in the highs like so many A5 PAFs do.
The Nostalgia neck is phenomenal - in my Dean Trans Am (Firebird-type guitar), it is currently my favorite neck humbucker of all time (!). It solves the boomy 59 neck issue and is crisp and articulate, yet slightly chewy. In my Dean Cadillac, the Nostalgia neck sounds good but is slightly too lively in the top end for me (probably due to addition of maple top and ebony fretboard vs. all-mahogany body and rosewood fretboard in the Trans Am), so I might switch to an A2 in the neck. I'm thinking of trying out the DMT Flathead in this position; the sound clips sound great, very vintage, practically Seth Lover-like.
My Trans Am came stock with the Equalizer bridge. This is a decent high output A5 in the 16K range - not like a JB, as the spec would suggest. It's just hot and full of mids, sort of reminding me of modern day Fender humbuckers. I don't view that as a bad thing (I'm one of the few that like Fender humbuckers), but the sound and feel is pretty generic. "Hot rock pickup" pretty much sums it up. It's not a great tonal match for the much more open Nostalgia neck.
I just ordered a Vinnie Moore Shredhead to pair in the bridge with the Nostalgia neck, and can't wait to try it out, as the clips sound great.
