When I had my SG I loved having blue steels on them. Something in the way they feel...they almost feel soft if that makes sense, as in soft to the touch.

But then I kept breaking them all the time so I had to move on.

From my research (purely online) it seems like the quality has down on them...some swear by them while others claim they were awesome but kept breaking/QC issues.

Dean Markley qc has definitely gone downhill in recent years. they used to be my go-to for about 25 years.

The Blue steels have a good solid low, crisp highs, very clear..but the tonality is dark. I find they tu e up.and stay tuned up better than most. They also have a wonderful balance string to string. tensions are fantastic. no rubber bandy or overly stiff strings.

The problem is the change into the environmental packaging. the coiled strings are now wound up i to too small of a coil and they come out in horrible shape when unwound. Sometimes they are just dead as a door nail or the windings are messed up or damn near kinked. If they would just coil them looser and put into a bigger bag they would be much better.

Blue Steel 10's are about the only strings I use!!! There's no real reason why other than my local music store carried them for $5 a pack when I was younger. So, that's what I've always used????
