Decided on the tubescreamer. TS-808? or TS-9?

I decided a distortion pedal isn't really what I'm looking for, I favor the distortion of the amp itself and like a pedal to kick it up a few notches like a booster. Something to give a little attitude to a clean channel too. So which route should I go? TS-808 or TS-9? Keeley modded TS-9? help me out folks.

get a ts-808, and get it modded by john from the forums

get a cheaper TS7 or TS5, and mod it if you must. There is no reason to spend TS9-808 prices for virtually the same pedal (it will be *exactly* the same after mods).

The TS9 is the same pedal once you change 2 output section resistors and the opamp...The stock TS7 doesn't sound quite like the TS808 or the TS9 to my ears...Get the TS9 and save yourself about $70...

FWIW, Antique Electronics is selling the Maxon OD9 for $109 right now.

I think I still favor the Maxon OD808, though.

Yes that's right,Curly is right...Great pedal and true bypass....I Liked Curly's Maxon pedal alot...That's a great price on that pedal.

If you are having it modded it probably doesn't matter if you go TS-9 or TS-808. From what I have been reading they basically use the same board except for the chip. The 808 uses the right one. If you are going to have it modded anyway that will get corrected either way.
