Yes! Not scooped exactly, but like the sound you get from something that's hollow.
Really good word for a quality that's hard to describe.
I'll have to try and remember that.

I recently replaced a set of EJ signature pickups in my Voodoo Strat and went with Red Devil bridge and Quarterpound middle and neck with 3-way blade. I know you're HSS, but I figured I'd chime in anyway since I saw the word "scooped". That set up wasn't working for me but it had that classic BFG bridge tone it was more the QP's output that I needed to adjust to. I've since gone back to single coils and dropped in a set of Scooped Strat and added a 5-way blade. I'm really liking the Scooped, especially the neck and middle. I'm on again off again with a bridge humbucker in this guitar, but I still haven't found something that sounds great with the reverse angled bridge.

I never gave a good recommendation above - you should check out the Saturday Night Special, IMO. A little different with the A4 but I think it'll serve your classic rock tone quest well.
