I bought a brand spanking new Custom/59. Also got me a cheaper HSS strat that had a bad buzz. So I took it to my guy, and was going to let him install the C/59, and he says Pickup is faulty under the tape. Will Duncan accept the return and exchange it? Purchased from a legit fleabay store. 100 bucks, hope I dont get burned, kinda pissed TBH. Brand spanking new , hows it happen? Pics later when I go get it back. 40 miles each way Errr

Re: Defective returns?

1) Manufacturing errors do happen. I'm sure Duncan's return rate for "defects" is lower than your average for most industries

2) If it has a warranty, then it has a warranty. Duncan is usually very good about that. If you bought it from eBay, try working through the seller for a replacement or initiate an eBay return since it was defective. That will be an easier and faster process than trying to warranty through the company.

3) There's a number of reasons why the pickup might be faulty. Heck, your tech holding the soldering iron on a lead too long can screw things up...who knows.

4) Sounds like you're double-miffed because of the other issues with the guitar. Can't help you with that one.

Re: Defective returns?

It wasnt the tech, he didnt even get to the point of soldering. BTW, thanks for the help Masta

Definitely a rare case then. I've bought/sold hundreds of Duncans and never had a defect, believe it or not. But it does happen.

Like I said, I'd return it and see about a prompt replacement through the seller. Usually authorized dealers are quite reasonable.

If I had to plan an hour trip each way to get work done, was excited about upgrading my guitar and found out I couldn't because of a bum wire somewhere, I'd be a little disappointed, too :)

Re: Defective returns?

if it is a new pup bought from an authorized dealer and is factory defective, they will replace it
