Delay pedals

Well, they serve 2 different purposes. I like digital that can also model analog, because I am constantly controlling the delay time and feedback with an expression pedal. I also sometimes compose with really long delay times (10-20 seconds). So only digital will do that. Analog pedals, like my Vapor Trail, sound glorious, but have much shorter times and not a ton of control unless you bend down and start twisting knobs.
both. on my big board im redoing i have an analog set for solos then a programmable digital with tap tempo to get either quick slap back or longer ambient delays or whatever else i need. on my three and four pedal boards they each have an analog delay, and on my five pedal board there is a digi with tap tempo. this is assuming i bring a pedal board which isnt that often

On my worship board, I now have both. The analog is set for short slap back with a couple repeats. The digital is for the more ambient and longer delay times. There's a bunch of modes on it but I have it set to digital. With my amp setup, it's what's in the amp, which is a digitized analog sounding delay. Tap tempo is on hand as well. Nice and simple setup there.

Boss DM-2w and I recently got a Joyo Aquarius.
Analog for me. I mainly use delay with a short time and a few repeats for boosting lead lines into sustain land.
Other than that, the self-oscillation properties of analog delay is a ton of fun to play with. I have found nothing better than the Boss DM-2 for my needs.
I used to have a DM-2 from the early 80's but I sold it after I built a clone of it.

Honestly, it depends on what you are after. There are a lot of great pedals out there (both analog and digital).

There's something about that analog "life"; that no digital unit or plugin can recreate. :/ ... In a "close" setting, atleast- i.e. when playing live with all analog gear.
on recordings, that "life" is not recorded in the same way; though it def. affects *my personal* performance

This is one of the greatest pedals ever made. Strictly as a creative tool, it's awesome.
I'm not really a huge ambient or soundscape guy but this thing is really easy to get lost in. I really like that it is different enough from the typical reverb or delay pedal that it kind of becomes it's own thing.
