Deluxe Strat V neck/Schaller Tuners question

I bought a V neck from a Am Deluxe Strat. I want the more modern features with the feel of an old V profile. The neck arrived today and I thought he had sent the wrong neck, the "V" is so whimpy. Are all the Deluxe Vs this same profile? I might have to become a "C" player.

That was the first issue. The guy also told me that Fender tuners are not staggered, but the set that came on the neck are, and if I'm right, installed exactly backwards. The 3 shorter tuners should be on the higher strings (pitch-wise) to increase the angle of the strings across the nut, right?

Third, for a neck that is only three to four months old, this thing is pretty beat up. The skunk stripe alone has three dents/scratches large enough for me to feel with my thumb when I'm playing. For me, the absolute worst place for any kind of marring, except maybe for the fingerboard.

So my questions are three; Are all Am Deluxe V necks this non-Vish? Are the shorter tuners supposed to be on the strings that are farther away from the nut? And how much damage would you expect to inflict on your guitars neck, in say, 6 months?

Thank you kindly Gentlemen,

Re: Deluxe Strat V neck/Schaller Tuners question

The Am. "V-neck" strat I played next to the EJ last December had a BIG 'ol "V" shaped neck...

Didn't feel ANYTHING like the "modern C" shape...or even an old "C" shape...

I've only had damage to one guitar neck inside of six months when an idjit intern at a studio outside of Boston managed to knock over my five-banger guitar stand while we were out in the live room and my PRS ended up with some dings in the back of the neck

The intern was fired a few days later...

But anyway, dounds like you might've gotten rooked on this one...was it an Ebay deal?

Thanks for the input. Yes it was an eBay sale. I just sent the seller a message. We'll see what happens.

Re: Deluxe Strat V neck/Schaller Tuners question

The AmDlx V-neck is a medium sized soft V with 22 frets, 9.5" radius, and biflex truss rod. It has a subtle V shape almost the entire length of the neck, is about the same thickness as a modern C neck at the 1st fret (approx. 0.84"), but tapers more to a thicker size at the 12th fret (approx. 0.92" for V-neck vs. approx 0.88" for modern C-neck). The staggered tuner posts are shorter for the plain strings than for the wound strings. They are very nice necks -- I'd like a spare one myself.

Re: Deluxe Strat V neck/Schaller Tuners question

Thanks Kelsey. I looked at it again and the V is sharper than I thought. Not as sharp as my '50s reissues, but usable. I contacted the seller and it looks like he is going return some of my money, which seems fair. As I suspected, the tuners are exactly backwards. Not a big deal, but I couldn't find any info the installation of staggered tuners.
