I bought a V neck from a Am Deluxe Strat. I want the more modern features with the feel of an old V profile. The neck arrived today and I thought he had sent the wrong neck, the "V" is so whimpy. Are all the Deluxe Vs this same profile? I might have to become a "C" player.
That was the first issue. The guy also told me that Fender tuners are not staggered, but the set that came on the neck are, and if I'm right, installed exactly backwards. The 3 shorter tuners should be on the higher strings (pitch-wise) to increase the angle of the strings across the nut, right?
Third, for a neck that is only three to four months old, this thing is pretty beat up. The skunk stripe alone has three dents/scratches large enough for me to feel with my thumb when I'm playing. For me, the absolute worst place for any kind of marring, except maybe for the fingerboard.
So my questions are three; Are all Am Deluxe V necks this non-Vish? Are the shorter tuners supposed to be on the strings that are farther away from the nut? And how much damage would you expect to inflict on your guitars neck, in say, 6 months?
Thank you kindly Gentlemen,
