Demon ... the screaming kind...

Stevo

Tonus Maximus Pacificas
I just listened to a couple quick recordings I did with the SD, now wondering why I got rid of it! :smash:

The name is a bit leading, with a connotation that this pickup is a rocker. It does rock. It is also very musical/diverse.

I had the SD in a tele, now I think I 'need' one for my LP :D

Anyone with this pickup in a Les Paul?

Re: Demon ... the screaming kind...

I had it in my LP's bridge position for a while and while it certainly did rock, I evetually replced it with a Pearly Gates. Now, it sits in the neck slot of my '81 Hamer Special FM paired with a double fillister pole'd, alnico II loaded JB in the bridge (my ghetto Holdsworth).

I dig it in both positions. Great attack, snappy low end, and enough slice to cut through a live band. I'm a huge fan.

Ahh yes the PG is wacool in a Les Paul. It's a bit bright for my rig and I am really liking the Seth Lover in there right now. The Seth Lover does not crunch like the PG, but, there's always a trade-off. The SL mids are pretty killer.

Pretty sure that a demon will be on the way very soon...

Re: Demon ... the screaming kind...

i've had one in my LP; the attack and high midrange focus made it a good match, especially for down-tuning and clarity under gain. haven't had a chance to jam/gig with it but i'm confident it'd cut through.

Re: Demon ... the screaming kind...

Here was a Demon8 with the polepiece mod (all the filister screw to the high strings, all allen screws to the bass). Nice rounder treble, but piano like lows. Great for a modern LP sound.
The now in Brobucker is far more on the holding-back side with lesser string definition.
