Derek Trucks: New Rig?

Found this pic and watched some of the beacon theatre vids from '07 and it seems like Derek Trucks has been using different amps besides his normal 2 Super Reverbs. These things are massive... Are those 6x10s? 4x12s? They look like silverface amps too, probably modded for extra treble and other mods like his super reverbs have. Anyone know of these amps, what they are? Thanks. Going to see the Allman Bros tonight btw, should be kick ass!

They look like Fender Super Sixes. They're Twins with a 6 x 10" configuration. I think Lord Valve did those up too.

im still waiting for the pic but its a super six. basically a twin reverb pushing six 10" speakers

Very cool thanks guys. I was just surprised to see him switch stuff, he always talks about having one solid rig, learning its limits and strengths and getting comfortable with it.

i know he uses the twins alot, but i recall seeing him on the beacon DVD using a randall halfstack. and some other little combo amp.

he actually uses super reverbs 90% of the time. but with the allmans he needed a bigger amp, his supers just werent cutting it against warrens two 100w half stacks, oteils svt, three loud drummers and a b3. hense the randall in the video and now the super sixes

Yeah those Super 6's are ridiculous!!! They come up above my waiste and I'm a touch over 6 feet tall.

Super Six's make perfect sense given where he's coming from. If you want a really loud SR, get a Super Six. If you want it really REALLY loud, get two.

However, given to location of the topmost two 10's in each amp, I'd be worried about my continued ability to sire children.

I would'nt be too suprised if he did'nt end up playing one of Scott's Celtic's soon.:bigok: Derek heard my Aislinn a few months ago and loved the sound. Of course I had the 12 watts going through a 10,000 watt p.a. system. Thank God I got to use my sound guy.( he knows how I like it thru the monitors).

Super Six's make perfect sense given where he's coming from. If you want a really loud SR, get a Super Six. If you want it really REALLY loud, get two.

I gigged with one for a year or so, exceptionally loud and clean and the most cumbersome amp, this side of the Mississippi to lug around. (They have handles on the side). Sounded good with the Chandler tube driver running through it.

PS Rich....do not use said amp as contraception device.

Someone must have hooked him up with those after his Super Reverbs got stolen. Does anyone know if he's using those with Clapton? I think he'd blow Clapton out of the room with those!

Derek's had the Super Sixes for a few years now.

Not sure if they come out a lot with anything besides the Brothers but the first show he played with one of those beasts was at the Tweeter Center in Foxboro MA, July 2003. I was there manning the Clear Channel 'Instant Live' thing...

At the Houston show (and at all the shows i've seen footage from) he was using his regular BFSR setup.
