Desert Island Guitar

I know it's been quite a while since we've done one of these and tastes change, so if you could only have one guitar and had to give up all the rest of then forever, what would you have?
The only requirement is it can't be a Hello Kitty Strat.

If I had to chose it'd be this:

The neck pickup would be a Pearly Gates with an A3 an A2 59/Custom Hybrid Bridge. It would have a standard PRS floating tremolo and the following wiring:

5- Neck
4- Neck in Parallel
3- Neck and Bridge in parallel in parallel
2- Bridge in Parallel
1- Bridge

What would y'all guys have? And if possible, send pictures.

Re: Desert Island Guitar

I'm not to familiar with Dimarzio pickups, but is the Sue Distortion a Super Distortion, just spelled differently? Because I know a Super Distortion has 12 hex screws not 6 fillister and 6 slugs.

Very nice guitar by the way, I like the "if it ain't broke don't fix it attitude" of your guitar in general but more specifically, your tried and true pickup set. That's the way I think Les Pauls are supposed to be.

Re: Desert Island Guitar

I love the 59 Paul burst, and I must bemad to say this but I would have ot say it'd be a 57 Strat, just cause I'm a Strat guy first and foremost.

Re: Desert Island Guitar

Desert islands typically don't have wall outlets, and if you were stranded on one, you'd be much more interested in finding food than playing a guitar. But aside from that...

Re: Desert Island Guitar

I'm gonna assume we're choosing from guitars we already have (as opposed to dream guitars), so...

She's sexy and plays wonderfully... but more importantly, since we're talking about a desert island, I'm assuming there's no power for an amp. At least with the semi-hollow I'll be able to hear it better than my solid bodies!

Re: Desert Island Guitar

I'll make some certain changes to the rules. There's a power outlet on the island and the guy before you left a world class modeling amp and a fully stocked snack bar. There's also wifi and living accommodations.

It is tempting to bring the most versatile thing possible, but I wonder if I wouldn't rather bring this, and work on getting the most out of the single humbucker set-up.

Re: Desert Island Guitar

You would spend the rest of your life wondering how the guitar would sound with the pickup in the neck.

Lol....I misspelled that. I’ll fix it. The pickups in the picture are BKP Rebel Yells. I only recently installed the Dimarzio’s.

I wonder, with a combination of sensible use of the volume knob and picking technique, how close one could get?

Eh? that's like saying you can turn an orange into an apple.

I have a nifty guitar that simulates the neck tone using the bridge humbucker. :friday:
