I need to improve my vibrato technique. Im talking about the typical rock up n down type. The guitarist in my band says i dont have much control over it and i have been working on it before. Has anybody got any tips? Help would be great.
Thanks

Record yourself over a backing track. Play the same lick using different vibrato techniques: circle vibrato, wide vibrato, fast/slow, etc.... Listen to how other guys use vibrato. I used to love how Rhoads would use that really wide and wild vibrato like in the Mr. Crowley solo. Adrian Vandenberg and Jake E Lee both had cool vibratos in my book.
I dont agree with you on that one. I use several different types of vibrato when playing to get some variation. Twisting the arm, bending fingers, sliding the fingers slightly within the fret. Thats just me, thoug.
Thanks so much guys, just been practising my technique today. Im starting to feel a lot more in control of things and im messing about more and getting better sounds. And also thanks Rotten Guitar String for mentioning the importance of using ur forearm. Ive concentrated a bit more on doing that and it has helped loads.
Thankyou everybody
Don't forget to also listen to BB King,Clapton,SRV,Hendrix,Trower,Beck, etc.and any of the early blues great...That's where all of the vibrato came from....
The guys mentioned above copied the great black blues players....
