A few weeks ago, I built a BYOC clone of my Ampeg Scrambler. Today, I got out the rattle cans and set about painting the enclosure. I also had ordered some new knobs and coloured LED's. I added a chrome bezel around the LED (had to drill out the hole a bit) and changed the LED to clear orange. Overall, I think it turned out pretty well! I got a few faint fingerprints in the paint because I got impatient and didn't wait 24 hours for the paint to fully cure. Ah well.

Did you use a primer at all, or just straight for the colour coat?

Just went straight to the colour coat. Used Rustoleum for the colour - did about 4 or 5 coats. Then just sprayed a couple coats of store brand clear acrylic to finish. It's going to live on a pedal board so I'm not concerned with having a super thick finish.

If you set that on an old Kustom amp, you'll never find it!
