Did Y'all See This Stuff?

Re: Did Y'all See This Stuff?

Watching TV isn't inherently bad. Wasting too much time on mindless, trivial TV is bad.

I hate people who think that because they don't watch TV, they're smarter and have contributed something useful to society. What have you done with all your time now that you don't watch TV? How much time do you spend READING? Giving up TV isn't doing you any good if you spend a bunch of your time on the internet, smoking weed, masturbating, getting drunk, or any of the other thousands of leisure-time activities that most people occupy themselves with. Again, nothing's wrong with leisure-time activities, but TV is just one of them and if you're guilty of one of them, you might as well be guilty of any. You said it yourself, the internet is bad enough.

And if you hate advertisements so much..... sorry you have to live in America. This country is based on a free-market economy and ads permeate every facet of day to day life. Get used to them.

The only TV I watch is the Local news (Because I dont want to get the paper either).

You don't keep up with national and international news? You don't even read the newspaper? No offense, but I think THAT'S detrimental to a person's character. You sound like you're proud of isolating yourself.... isn't refusing to read a newspaper willful ignorance?

I watch CNN every night and I'm damn proud of that.

Re: Did Y'all See This Stuff?

well, there is reality, and legal reality

no douby, FMIC has the legal right to trademark and protect the designs of Leo and others long since gone from the company

however, I am concerned when the 800 pound gorillas rely on more and more lawsuits at the same time that their build quality appears to me to be slipping

I also didn't appreciate the cheap Chinese case that came with my recent "American" series strat.

btw, I have a nice tele and strat for sale - a little on the heavy side for me. I just prefer my parts guitars.

Re: Did Y'all See This Stuff?

I agree Curly....there is a big difference between trying to pass something off as a genuine Fender, and a high quality parts guitar built from perfectly legal "authorized" parts, or other parts.

I also agree that this looks like a tatic to squash competition rather than building better instruments. Same thing with Gibson suing PRS. Anyone call tell the difference between a PRS Single Cut and a Gibby LP. Hopefully this type of litigation doesn't limit the number or type of guitars we hobbists can enjoy.

Re: Did Y'all See This Stuff?

Weird case - Nash's site says that he does not sell Fender guitars.

So he is buying a Fender parts neck, assembling it with a Fender parts body, and selling it on with a mark-up for assembly...?

So if the necks come with the logo on them, and he does not sell them as factory assembled Fender guitars, is he ripping them off - Fender is already getting a cut from selling the parts.

To be honest though, if I was Fender I wouldn't want people doing that with factory parts.

But I don't think (in this case anyway) that they're going after people that sell other bodies and parts, or custom make and assemble bodies and parts - just people that build guitars from Fender factory parts.

Re: Did Y'all See This Stuff?

MAN all I can say is WHINERS! Just because Nash makes guitars that are WAAAAAYY better quality and WAAAAAYY frikin cooler looking then Fender's guitars with AFTERMARKET parts is no reason to sue. Sounds like Fender is just jealous that a privately owned business can produce a better product for less with aftermarket parts. Like Fender doesnt already have plenty of money ne way! I don't really like Fender anyway and won't buy from them regardless. All I can say is give me a break Fender!

Re: Did Y'all See This Stuff?

By the way Jonny R if you go to the website and look at the pics of his guitars it doesn't look like he is putting Fender ne where on the guitars he has pictured. I could be wrong. If ne one has pics to prove the contrary feel free to e-mail them to me at creedis@p3mc.com or just post the web address.

Fender has to have some justification for telling him to quit puting their logo's on his guitars. Just because he dosnt show it on his site, dosnt mean he didnt do it. Although I've spoken with Mr. Nash on the FDP on multiple occasions, and he's a great guy who makes great guitars, that just seems wrong to me.

Re: Did Y'all See This Stuff?

Well, if he is putting Fender's name on stuff then I think maybe Fender has some grounds for sure. Just all sounds kinda childish to me I guess. If he is in the wrong I hope he will just stop putting Fender's name on his stuff. Easy fix. Again does ne one have ne concrete proof he is doing it??? I would just like to see it thats all.

Yeah, I couldn't see any either - just wasn't sure whether the Fender parts necks come with the logo on them...if so slapping a Fender parts neck on a Fender parts body would basically be a Fender (just a non Fender-assembled one).
