Got a new amp on the bench tonight. Basically a Matchless DC-30 clone. Reports to follow.... I'm pretty stoked. This is one of my favorite amps of all time. If it works out, I will be selling my demo model Franklin 15 for a great price. :)

Re: Dierdre 30 begins tonight....

5 hours in and I've got the boards soldered and mounted, all sockets and transformers mounted, multiple terminal strips installed and wired, heater wires run (this sob has a lot of tubes in it...). Got the dual rectifier tubes wired up.

Tomorrow night, install all the front and back panel jacks and switches and finish the wiring. 1/2 power switch, phase reversal, multi-impedance selector, all sorts of crap...

Hehe.... I figured out a way to shock mount the EF86 socket. ;)

Re: Dierdre 30 begins tonight....

Do you ever post clips of your creations?

Re: Dierdre 30 begins tonight....

I'm not a good enough player to post clips and do the amp justice. So, guys like Stevo and Stratman have made some clips for me on two of my amps so far. I am hoping that Stratman can record some heavier gain stuff for the Edana.

At some point, when this amp is done, I'll get some clips out there once I find someone to record them for me. Clips over a PC really don't do an amp justice. It's almost better to not have clips sometimes.

Scott_F - I will be posting some heavier clips for you from Singapore as soon as my air shipment comes in. Those light tunes were what I thought that you wanted, when you indicated that those made for the Franklin were too distorted. So, I purposely when lighter than I normally play (As you well know)

Anyway, you and our fellow forum friends will be hearing more clips soon! (I'm thinking early clapton, hendrix, and SRV) Take your pick of three tunes from each.

Some Cream era Clapton through the Edana would be very nice, can't wait to see how the Dierdre turns out.

Stratman---- I wasn't complaining. Just commenting. I'm more than appreciative of the clips. I take it that you took the Edana to the Far East. Have fun....

+1. If it can do a good Cream era Clapton then it is truly the perfect amp. And the Dierdre sounds like another great amp :)

You Go Guy! :) Man you are jamming on the amp building these days. Kudos for creating quality products. The Dierdre 30 sounds like it's going to be a winner.

Not taken as a complaint.

I thought that you wanted cleans, because Edana is an extremely capable amp -although most players would only use it's hotter side and never know the sweetness that it's cleans can produce!

As you know, Edana is capable of clean as well as hot, wild, in your face early marshall tones. And those clips are coming.

Will be playing throught Edana and Little Jimi as soon as they arrive.

PS: I still got first dibs on Franklin 15.
