That's what I thought too...Corbic said:Isn't it the other way around? I'm not sure, but I think Antiquity were 50s, and Antiquity IIs are 60s spec.
:smack: Whoops! Time for an edit I thinkCorbic said:Isn't it the other way around? I'm not sure, but I think Antiquity were 50s, and Antiquity IIs are 60s spec. Don't quote me on it though. But the Antiquities are Alnico II and Antiquity IIs are Alnico V.

ArtieToo said:Thats interesting. I would'nt characterize this as having much bass, but "bright and spanky" is dead on the money. I love it.
In my case, its a Tele bridge single.

ArtieToo said:Thats probably a fair statement. The pup that came out of here was shallow and lifeless. I posted a quick & simple clip in the "Tips and Clips" section. Not sure if that will help.

Lewguitar said:If we're talking about Teles, the Ant I's are flat poled and the Ant 55 has a raised D and A...I'm pretty sure both use alnico 2 magnets but they don't sound exactly like 50's pickups...they kind of have thier own thing going. As far as the Tele Ant I, it does remind me of Roy Buchanan but it has less bass and less bite to the treble than a real alnico 5 early 53 Tele pickup like is in Nancy, Roy's Tele. The Ant II's are alnico 5: more bass...less mids...spankier/brighter treble...and they have raised and staggered polepieces, not flat.
