differences between fender pups and seymour duncans

hello folks

I am trying to figure out what the differences are between seymour duncan and fender pickups. I know that a (modern) stock Fender pup will be out-of-phase with a Duncan. But why?

Is it because the wind direction is reversed, because the magnet is flipped, or because the wires are just connected backwards?

??? :naughty:

Any one of those three will cause the pup to be out-of-phase, but it would be very useful to know which is the case to be able to match a seymour duncan with other fenders.

Please help!!!

cheers

andrea :)

Haven't heard that. Years back I no issues w/a SD Quarter Pounder w/stock Fender neck/middle.

Usually it is because the wires are flipped the wrong way. It's been a while since I changed pups out of a Strat, though. Maybe I'm forgetting something re the three pups and the selector switch.

If you're talking Tele, it's a wire flipping thing...

the wires are opposite on the fenders. so basically you need to flip hot and ground of the fender wires to make them match the duncans, or vice versa
