Re: Digitech Bad Monkey or Arion Tubulator
But to answer your question, I don't feel like the BM is coloring the sound - just boosting the gain.
My amp has a crunch on channel 1 and gain on channel 2. The channel 2 gain sounds exactly the same as the BM, so run 2 with the gain all the way down as my "clean" channel and channel 1 with "crunch". I've run the BM with channel 1 and it sounded pretty good - but I felt I wasn't getting the boost I was looking for. I had the BM gain up pretty high, I think I was causing some interferance. Then I read this in this thread:Regarding the Bad Monkey:How does it sound pushing another distortion?Does it retain the rig's sound or just colors it with its own?
So I turned my BM gain down to 12 o'clock and I've got a much better sound and the BM is giving me the boost I want. In the clean channel I get A LOT of boost - need to work on that. The Monkey will clean up pretty good, if you don't have the gain up past 12 o'clock.
