Along with that incredible Strat that I found today I went through the entire rack of Digitech gear on display today. I've been playing nothing but tube amps for the last 10 months and I couldn't believe how sterile, lifeless and fake all of their pedals sounded now. Tried everthing from the EC pedal to the Distortion factory and the Bad Monkey. They all sounded terrible to my ears. The biggest dissapointment was the $500 GNX4, it sounded like ass. If I ever go digital again, I'll stick to the Vox stuff.

The Bad Monkey's a great sounding peadal, not just for the price.

Your tastes may be different but overwhelmingly they're popping up on alot of pedalboards.

I don't know how people like Digitech. Out of all the products, the only ones that were decent were the signature ones.

I agree. But I'm seeing them on pedalboard of folks that aren't the types of people that are into new gear at all. They're not the "gotta have it because it's new" crowd. They're the folks that own and play more vintage-style gear and have an ear for that sort of thing.

And owning a Bad Monkey as well, it sits riight up there next to my Keeley-modded TS-9, my Spina-modded SD-1's and my ZenDrive.

I have a few DigiTech pedals. I don't have the Bad Monkey, but it is a real gem in the overdrive world. But the delay and reverb pedal I have are awesome. Also, by comparison, I have always felt that Boss and DigiTech are 2 of the best when it comes to multi-effect processors. But it is a matter of preference.

the Bad Monkey proves you don't have to spend 100s on a great sounding overdrive, and as good as this thing sounds, I find it funny that people still spend the $ on modded TS's.

I never liked Digitech's multi-fx, I think Boss and Line6 do that thing so much better.

I have only tried the Bad monkey and I quite agree with Jump Marine, it rips off the life out of a tube amp IMO. Just as the V-amp does.

some days are like that though, where nothing sounds good. I don't own any digitech right now, but I would think I could put some of their pedals to use pretty easily.

And let me guess... They were all going into some solid state practice amp?


My RP200A sounds great, given only 2 amp models are useable, they work well. The effects are also nice and don't degrade tone.


I've never tried their stomp boxes, but I love this multi-efx unit.

I've been using Digitech equipment for years, into a multitude of amp combinations (tube, SS, power, etc) and they've all worked just fine. I think effects for the most part are great as long as you don't overuse the effect itself. I mean, a little chorus is wonderful for a guitar's presence but too much and everything sounds out of tune. They are what you make of them.

I had an RP300 for quite a while and it also sounded terrible......I found that it always sounded fake with no real interaction with the individual guitar. It did't matter what I was plugged into, tube, ss or headphones. As far as good value pedals, give me Boss anyday over what I heard yesterday. Spend some quality time with analog and tubes and a whole new world will open up for tone.

I really like Digitech's DigiVerb reverb pedal. Lots of options, and for the most part they don't sound digital. (Not like it compares to nice, lush Fender reverb, but hey, it's a pedal.)

I have a Bad Monkey and its on par with a TS. Boss and Digitech pedals sound like crap at GC, because they usually have them in a display with 20 or 30 of them hooked up together.

As much as this one has been talked about I would like to try one through my rig.

That and they are usually hooked upto a $150 amp and a $200 guitar it seems.
