Digitech Metal Master is a MONSTER!

Recently purchased this pedal from forum bro, B Bent (Greg).
Man this pedal is sick, perhaps it's the set up i've been playin it thru (Cherry finished Mahogany Hamer Special w/SD Stack P90s, see avatar, and the pedal receptive '59 Bassman RI, also see avatar) but I suppose with the 10" speakers of the Bassman, it adds to the tone. The bottom is so tight and articulate. I love it, no slop here whatsoever, just tight grit and grind. What a blast, my wife even commented on the awesome tone. Gotta love that.
Thanks Greg! Anyone else digging this pedal.

Peace,

Darrin

Re: Digitech Metal Master is a MONSTER!

Digitech is an alright company. They come fairly well recommended here in utah, where I believe they're based.
I've got a hot rod distortion which I've used for about 4 years.
I'd wondered about the MM and it's good to hear that they seemingly didn't drop the ball on it.

Re: Digitech Metal Master is a MONSTER!

Is the metal master the digital one from the x series. (As in not the DOD Death Metal repackaged).

Re: Digitech Metal Master is a MONSTER!

Sweet dude. I am thrilled you like it. It just wasnt working for me with a Tele and Vibrolux Reverb. LOL!

Re: Digitech Metal Master is a MONSTER!

Its the best distortion pedal I have ever played. . . hands down and bar none.

HOLY CRAP! I only just now realized you lived in St. George. I lived in Cedar for about four years. It's not ridiculous to suppose I might run into you someday.

I'm glad you found a good ped. It's amazing what one pedal with the right feel can do. Just ask Zakk or The Edge and his Boss Superoverdrive.

Re: Digitech Metal Master is a MONSTER!

I had one but I traded it for a new Bad Monkey and $15 store credit at a local shop. It was too heavy for me.

HA HA HA HA HA

In Utah, it ALL seems good

because Utah sucks!

:D

Re: Digitech Metal Master is a MONSTER!

I hated it, it was way too compressed for me and I enjoy metal tones

It does! For me, anyways. I grew up in Silver Spring, MD. I'm not liking this whole "small college town/ desert retirement oasis" kinda dealy.
But alas, school and cost of living are cheap here. At least I'm moving to SLC before fall.

Digitech does a few things well but all in all their flanger could be better. Its got such a wide range of sounds but so few of them really sound that great.

I still like my tone driver but am interested in broadening my overdrive horizons, dunno how long i'll stick with it.

their compresser didn't impress me but I'm glad i got a dynacomp. now that's a good all around compressor. Sometimes I feel like digitech tries to do too many things at once with their x-series.

Re: Digitech Metal Master is a MONSTER!

I plugged into a Metal Master in a shop one time. I liked it! The morph knob lets you go through a selection of essential metal tones. In one position, it sounded darn close to Randy Rhoads' tone on Ozzy's early albums. I'd never heard that tone in a pedal before.

Re: Digitech Metal Master is a MONSTER!

I really dig the pedal. I do agree with apj, I also find it compressed,
but I have an LP & Strat with Antiquities so I have the open airy sound covered.
I guess the MM is my little pleasure. Played through the aforementioned rig I get a
satisfaction thumpin' those barre's and heavey riffs that puts a smile on my face
and a pleasure in my soul. That's what it's all about for me.

Peace,

Darrin
