DigiTech RP255 Question

A week ago my power supply died so I went to Sam Ash and was sold a One Spot. The pedal says 1.3A and the supply says up to 1700mA- should be good. I get it home and plug it in and it does turn on, but I have no sound.

The pedal has a headphone so I disconnected the amp half and tried to play though the headphones, no sound. It ALL worked a week ago.

I took 1500 sandpaper and shined up the cable ends incase there was corrosion preventing a good contact, nothing.

I have my Ibanez SM7 and Behringer DM100 pedals that work fine run to the amp, so it's not the amp.

I ran the pedal in-line with the guitar and through the send/return with no success.

Any ideas on why there suddenly is no sound? Is it possible that the power supply and no sound is a coinsidence and unrelated? I got the pedal for free, I'm not a huge multi-effect pedal guy (they're a hassle) but it still is a nice pedal. If there is an easy/CHEAP fix then i'll do it but if not I wont cry if it gets junked.

Re: DigiTech RP255 Question

I recently bought an RP-3 without a power supply on the cheap. Took it home and realized it had the opposite as far as hot and ground compared to all of my other pedals. A friend of mine who is a bit of a pack rat keeps any power supply from anything that he has ever got over the years. He happened to have a power supply that worked. I think it was from a cordless phone base. I would make sure you are hot to hot and ground to ground. It could very well turn on as you are still running the the correct voltage through but backwards, hence no sound. I found some but I don't remember where on the Internet so they are out there. But of course the free one was just what I needed. This could be the case with yours or maybe not but I would def check, good luck.

Re: DigiTech RP255 Question

Where is the + on your supply, on the outside out inside? My One Spot has the + on the outside.

Re: DigiTech RP255 Question

You should have a symbol similar to this. It's either a center negative or center positive.

I would almost guarantee that a 1spot will not work with it.

Re: DigiTech RP255 Question

the RP is 9v AC, not DC
the one spot wont work.

Oh, I see that. SH!T, there goes $30.

You know the funny thing is Sam Ash is a hassle to get to from my place so I asked the guy 'can we take the power supply and hook it up to a RP255 to make SURE it works?' He found that it needs an $10 adapter- OK whatever it takes. We never set it up with an amp/guitar, I didn't know. I guess it's really IS true what they say about assuming!!!!
