diiference btwn. 50's wiring and RI wiring?

What is the difference in 50's wiring and RI wiring in the current Gibsons? What are the characteristics of each tone wise: feel, sound, cut, lack of cut. I just got a RS guitar kit and upgraded my 335 and it does what its supposed to do, but I don't like it. I wired it the according to their schematics and its 50's wiring. I feel like i've lost the volume and fullness. Please could someone give me the complete lowdown on how to rectify my situation because wiring the 335 is a bitch and I'd like to get it right next time.

You can change two wires and two caps and be back to standard wiring. But it's probably still hard in a semi-hollow. I would not want to try it in my Yamaha SA2000, good luck.

I did try it in my Washburn WI62 project guitar ... worked OK but I did not like as much. Mainly, just not what I'm used to. But I think I could get the same sounds out of the guitar eitehr way. The main difference I could see was a bit wider range on the tone controls and no need for the treble bleed circuit. One thing I found interesting is that with both volumes wide open ... the pickups are "loading" each other. If you back either one off a bit it quits. So if you are unhappy when both pickups are wide open ... there is a wiring solution to this ... a 47k resistor on each pickup ... so there's always 94k resistance between the two. Personally, I took the wiring back to standard. I also like being able to turn the guitar off with either volume control. Do a search on "50s wiring" and you'll find a lot.
